Scott Wuestner’s path to entrepreneurship is a story of discipline, leadership and an unwavering commitment to safety. As the Founder and CEO of Centurion Construction Management Solutions (C2MS), he has brought his extensive military experience to the construction industry, creating innovative safety solutions that are transforming the way companies protect their worker
A Distinguished Military Career
Before stepping into the world of construction management, Wuestner served 28 years in the Army, retiring as a Colonel. His service included assignments in the 2d Ranger Battalion, 1st SFOD-D (Delta Force) and the 82d Airborne Division. He also commanded a battalion in Iraq for 16 months, leading troops in high-risk environments where discipline and operational precision were essential for survival.
Throughout his military career, Wuestner developed a deep understanding of structured systems, leadership and risk mitigation—skills that would later define his approach to business. The military instilled in him the importance of preparation, accountability and ensuring that every member of a team operates at their highest level. These principles became the foundation for his post-military endeavors.
Transitioning to the Private Sector
After retiring from the military, Wuestner leveraged his leadership experience in executive roles within the government services and general contracting industries. He served as the COO of a general contracting firm, where he saw firsthand the challenges construction companies faced in managing safety effectively. The industry’s reliance on fragmented safety management tools inspired him to develop a more comprehensive and streamlined solution.
Building SAFETY ARMOR
With a clear vision for improving construction safety, Wuestner founded C2MS to provide a more integrated and effective approach to workplace safety. His military background played a crucial role in shaping the company’s methodology—emphasizing structured systems, accountability and proactive risk management.
One of C2MS’s key innovations is SAFETY ARMOR, a safety management platform built on Smartsheet’s “no-code” software. Unlike conventional safety tools that focus on isolated aspects of compliance, SAFETY ARMOR offers a holistic approach, centralizing safety data, automating reporting and providing real-time insights.
“Systems create habits, habits create results and results create culture,” Wuestner shared in an interview with Construction Tech Review. “Reinforcing the idea that safety is not just about rules but about building a culture where employees are protected through consistency and structure.”
Military Lessons Applied to Business
Wuestner’s military experience continues to influence his leadership style. His approach to safety mirrors the meticulous planning and execution required in military operations. Just as Soldiers rely on thorough preparation and disciplined execution to complete missions, construction professionals benefit from structured safety protocols and data-driven decision-making.
He also recognizes that leadership is about people. “We wanted to go beyond the customer,” Wuestner added, emphasizing that his goal is to ensure both frontline workers and administrative staff are empowered with the tools they need to maintain a safe work environment.
A Legacy of Leadership & Innovation
Through C2MS, Wuestner has successfully translated his military expertise into a business that improves safety outcomes and enhances operational efficiency. His story is one of adaptability, resilience and a deep-seated commitment to protecting people—whether in combat or on a construction site.
As he continues to grow C2MS, Wuestner’s journey serves as an inspiration for veterans transitioning into civilian careers, proving that the principles of military leadership can drive success in any industry.
