Military Scholarships

Veterans should use scholarship funds like “gap insurance” to pay for any tuition, housing, fees or books not covered by their benefits.  Dependents of veterans may or may not be covered by the benefit programs making scholarship funds even more important for them.

1). Samsung American Legion Scholarship

To date, the Samsung American Legion Scholarship has awarded more than $5.5 million to approximately 2,069 applicants. Samsung scholarships may be used for undergraduate studies and applied toward tuition, books, fees, and room and board. Winners are selected according to academic record, involvement in school and community service.

2). Green to Gold Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded for two, three, or four years. Soldiers with two years of college remaining to complete their degree are considered for two-year scholarships.  Soldiers with three years of college remaining to complete their degree are considered for three-year scholarships.  Soldiers without college credit who require four years to complete their degree are considered for four-year scholarships.<

3). Seth Bonder Scholarship for Applied Operations Research in Military Applications

The purpose of the Bonder Scholarship for Applied Operations Research in Military Applications is to promote the development and application of process modeling and operations research analyses to military issues. The scholarship provides funding of $5,000 ($US) to support the development of highly qualified individuals and promote the interchange of military OR research knowledge.

4). Adelante HOPE Veterans Texas Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded by the Hispanic Organization of Public Employees for a U.S. Military Veteran attending any university or college in Texas. The application period will begin in January 2019.

5). Anchor Scholarship Fund Scholarships

Scholarships are available for children and spouses of active duty, retired or honorably discharged Surface Navy veterans.

6). Fisher House Foundation Scholarships

A total of 500 scholarship grants, each for $2,000, will be awarded for school year 2019-20. There will be at least one recipient selected at every commissary location where qualified applications are received, and additional recipients will be selected based on a prorate basis, so more applicants will be selected from those commissaries with larger numbers of applicants. The program is open to sons and daughters of active duty, reserve/guard, or retired military commissary customers.

7). Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Scholarships

Scholarships are available for a child of an Active Duty or Reserve U.S. Marine, a Veteran U.S. Marine who has received an honorable discharge or who was killed while serving in the U.S. Marines, an Active Duty or Reserve U.S. Navy Corpsman who is serving, or has served, with a U.S. Marine Unit or a Veteran U.S. Navy Corpsman who served with a U.S. Marine Unite and has received an honorable discharge, or was killed while serving in the U.S. Navy as a Corpsman attached to a Marine Unit.

8). National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Foundation Scholarships

The NBCC Foundation is pleased to announce the 2019 spring military scholarships for service members, veterans, and their spouses pursuing a career in professional counseling. The military scholarship was created to increase the number of counselors available to serve military personnel and families.

9). Tailhook Educational Foundation Scholarships

Scholarships are available for a child or grandchild of a current or former Naval Aviator, Naval Flight Officer or Air-Crewman, or children and grandchildren of individuals who served onboard a U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier. Scholarship applications will open on December 15,

10). Tillman Scholars Scholarships

Scholarships are available for Veteran and active-duty military service members Pre-and post-9/11 service eras, from all branches of the U.S. Military including National Guard and Reserve and current spouses of veterans or active-duty service members, including surviving spouses. Scholarship applications will be accepted beginning February 2019.
