A win-win dual set of hiring fairs were hosted by HIRE G.I, August 21 at the Best Western Hotel in Silverdale, WA, and Aug 23 at the American Lake Conference Center at Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA. As is with all HIRE G.I fairs, this boutique fair allowed veterans who attended to build relationships with a selective group of HR employers. HIRE G.I aligns with veteran-friendly companies and does this through a unique approach to preparing veterans well in advance for how to maximize the job fair and sell their brand at the events. Hire G.I believes that understanding the strategies of the job search, provides the veteran better chance to be employed after service.
“A refreshing way to look for a job,” said Marvin Frilles, a recent career fair attendee.
At both locations, a combined total of over fifty companies were able to communicate with veterans and transitioning service members about employment opportunities. The fairs were a success for veterans and those transitioning because they had the opportunity to directly communicate with companies who take an active role in employing the brave men and women who have served the country.
“I was expecting the same old career fair and being directed to a website. This was truly a hiring event that allowed me to interview and sell my skills,” said Nicholas Gamboa.
At the Silverdale fair, twenty-four companies drew over 120 job seekers, with 22 veterans hired on the spot. The JBLM event brought 201 job seekers, and 33 veterans were hired immediately. Congratulation to all that gain success at our events.
At both events, AeroTek, BECU, Bonneville Power Administration, Commercial Driver School, Customs and Border Protection, Entrepreneur Source, First Command, HECOFA, Seattle Police, SCIS, Snohomish County Sherriff, TerraFirma Foundation Systems, and the Washing Army National Guard were represented.
